Jozani Forest

Jozani Forest is the only national forest in Zanzibar and one of those places that immediately feels alive the moment you step inside. It’s cool, quiet, and full of thick green trees that form a natural canopy above your head. The air feels fresh, and you can hear birds, insects, and the soft movement of nature all around you.

What makes this forest truly special is the rare Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys. They are only found here, and you’ll often see them jumping from tree to tree or sitting calmly along the forest paths, almost unbothered by visitors. Walking through Jozani also takes you into mangrove boardwalks, where you can see how the forest connects to the ocean ecosystem.
