Discover Kikelelwa Camp (3630m)
Kikelewa Camp (3,630m) is a scenic overnight stop on the Rongai Route, reached after a relatively short 2-3 hour trek from 2nd Cave Camp as the trail winds through open moorland and past the striking Kikelewa Caves, dramatic rock formations that add a rugged character to the landscape. Set in a sheltered valley surrounded by giant heather and unique alpine vegetation, the camp offers a peaceful, scenic setting with impressive views of Mawenzi's jagged peaks rising close by. The gentle pace of this stage allows climbers extra time to rest and acclimatize, making Kikelewa Camp a welcome, low-stress stop before the steeper climb ahead toward Mawenzi Tarn.

6-day climbing Rongai Route
6-Day Climbing Rongai Route is the only route to Kilimanjaro that originates from the northern slopes of the mountain. This area of the Mountain rarely sees an influx of hikers-it is, however, no less fascinating than the popular southern and western slopes. We recommend it especially to those who appreciate hiking experiences that are solitary and secluded. The trip to the starting point-Nalemuru Gate-usually takes about 3-4 hours from the hotel. 6-day climbing Rongai Routei is also the only route to Mawenzi, a volcanic cone of Kilimanjaro and the third tallest peak of Africa.
