Buffalo Camp – 4,020 Metres

Buffalo Camp is a remote and scenic campsite located at approximately 4,020 metres above sea level on the Northern Circuit Route of Mount Kilimanjaro. It lies on the northern slopes of the mountain, offering a quieter trekking experience away from the busier southern routes.

The trek to Buffalo Camp takes you through a rugged alpine desert landscape, with expansive views across the northern plains of Tanzania and toward the Kenyan side of the mountain. The area is characterized by rocky terrain, sparse vegetation, and dramatic views of Kibo Peak.

After arriving at camp, trekkers can relax in their mountain tents, enjoy a freshly prepared meal, and take time to recover from the day's trek. The location also provides another valuable opportunity for acclimatization before continuing toward the higher camps and ultimately the summit
