Discover Simba Camp (2570m)
Simba Camp (2,570m) is the first overnight stop on the Rongai Route, reached after a relatively easy 3-4 hour trek from Nalemuru Gate through pine forest and indigenous montane woodland on Kilimanjaro's quieter northern slopes. Named after the Swahili word for lion, the camp sits in a peaceful forest clearing where climbers can often hear or spot local wildlife, including birds and, occasionally, small forest mammals, adding a sense of wilderness to the trek's gentle start. With its gradual ascent profile and tranquil surroundings, Simba Camp offers a relaxed introduction to life on the mountain, giving trekkers a comfortable first night to settle into the rhythm of the climb before continuing higher into more open, moorland terrain.

6-day climbing Rongai Route
6-Day Climbing Rongai Route is the only route to Kilimanjaro that originates from the northern slopes of the mountain. This area of the Mountain rarely sees an influx of hikers-it is, however, no less fascinating than the popular southern and western slopes. We recommend it especially to those who appreciate hiking experiences that are solitary and secluded. The trip to the starting point-Nalemuru Gate-usually takes about 3-4 hours from the hotel. 6-day climbing Rongai Routei is also the only route to Mawenzi, a volcanic cone of Kilimanjaro and the third tallest peak of Africa.
