The Machame route is considered difficult and is better suited to more adventurous trekkers and those with some hiking or backpacking experience. The Machame route is scenically beautiful and varied. However, due to its popularity, there are increased numbers of trekkers, and it loses some of its splendor. The Machame route approaches the summit from the southwest and descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field. In certain sections, this route is steeper than the Marangu and Rongai routes and physically more demanding, but is easier overall. Great for acclimatization with lots of walk-high, sleep-low opportunities. Challenging trek with stunning scenery through 5 diverse climatic zones.  Then, we will join on a two-day adventure into the Tanzanian safari parks on a quest to discover the hundreds of magnificent species of birds and animals that make this beautiful landscape their home. We’ll visit the most vibrant parks, including the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Tarangire National Park, from the numerous herds of African elephants to the colossal termite mounds and the ancient baobab trees.

How many days does it take to climb Mount Kilimanjaro? Next to Marangu, Machame, popularly known as “the Whiskey Route”, is the second most sought-after way of reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro. This path gives access to an array of views, scenery, and experiences. So, if you enter Machame Gate from the southern slope of Mt Kilimanjaro, you will walk the wonderful path which starts from the tropical forest and follows through all the climate zones, culminating in the arctic desert before reaching the summit area.

Ubwe route is daring experienced climbers seeking adventure and challenge will find just what they want on the 6-day climbing Ubwe Route. A short, steep climb traversing all the climate zones – from tropical rainforest to eternal ice – will put your strength and endurance to the test. Like no other route on Kilimanjaro, Ubwe gives a sense of achievement to those who reach the summit. Your first day on the mountain will start from Ubwe Gate and continue with a lengthy trek to the first camp on your way – Ubwe camp. Despite the challenge that Ubwe poses to hikers, a well-thought-out location of camps will contribute to proper acclimatization. The 6-day climbing Ubwe Route through the Ubwe trail is available only as a 6-day program. The shallow mountain stream wanders peacefully through the Barranco Valley’s bottom amid the clouds. Frosting shields the valleys, whilst the azure glaciers scatter extravagantly across the ice fields. Immature trees flourish amongst the towering emerald canopies, and the lush vegetation conceals the moist floors. Thick shadows cast down from the bright sun. Faint buffalo trails are carved into the smooth grounds of the Shira Plateau, and milky white mist clings to and enrobes everything it can.
